
Dr. Hitchcock received a Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology and public health from Michigan State University in 1978. He graduated from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree and Master of Science degree from the Rackham School of Graduate studies. He completed his residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Michigan Medical Center in 1986. Part of his residency training was at the Regional Maxillofacial and Plastic Surgery Hospital at Canniesburn Hospital in Glasgow, Scotland. Dr. Hitchcock entered private practice in 1986.
Dr. Hitchcock is a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is a member of the Chalmers Lyons Academy of Oral Surgery and Michigan Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Dr. Hitchcock is also a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon and Alpha Omega dental fraternities as well as the American Dental and Michigan Dental Associations.
Dr. Hitchcock is an active member in the Department of Surgery at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He is an adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Michigan Medical Center. Dr. Hitchcock attends numerous continuing education programs throughout the year to maintain current knowledge and to practice the state of the art in oral and maxillofacial surgery.
Dr. Hitchcock practices the scope of modern oral and maxillofacial surgery, which includes dental extractions, management of oral pathology and diseases of the oral cavity, corrective jaw surgery for skeletal jaw deformities, post-traumatic deformities and for chronic obstructive sleep apnea. Dr. Hitchcock participates in all aspects of dental implant surgery including treatment planning, bone and soft tissue grafting, and implant placement.
