Although many surgical procedures can be safely and comfortably performed in our office, some procedures are best accomplished in a hospital setting. Our surgeons are members of the surgical staff at St. Joseph Mercy Hospitals in Ann Arbor and Saline and the Emma Bixby Medical Center in Adrian. Most elective surgery is performed in the Ambulatory Surgery Center at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor.
If your surgery is planned for the hospital you can expect our staff to help you with each step of the process including determination of insurance benefits, pre-surgical appointments, admission coordination, planning for discharge and follow-up. Our surgical coordinator may be reached at 734-769-6524. She is available to handle any questions or concerns that may arise regarding your hospital surgery.
If you will be undergoing corrective jaw surgery (orthognathic surgery) your care will need to be closely coordinated with your orthodontist. Our surgical coordinator will work with your orthodontist’s office to insure coordination of care. You and your orthodontist will determine the timing of your surgery. Once you have surgical clearance from your orthodontist, you should contact our surgical coordinator to begin the pre-surgical process. This will include our pre-surgical work-up appointment, appointments with pre-procedure testing, hospital admission and post-surgical visits to our office.
